Dr. Kelly Chuang is driven to make a difference in her patients’ lives and equip them with the confidence they need to take on the world. Originally from Rochester, NY, Dr. Chuang’s journey into oral and maxillofacial surgery began at Johns Hopkins University where she studied biology and English. After successfully completing a double bachelor’s degree, she pursued medicine, becoming more enamored with the world of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
After completing her residency, Dr. Chuang wanted to find a patient-centric practice that took pride in building a culture of safety. Because she is particularly passionate about facial reconstruction by way of correcting any deformities, she found a home at Oral Surgery Specialists, where Drs. Smith and Ferguson had established a full-scope practice that had everything she was looking for in a practice.
For Dr. Chuang, the most rewarding aspect of her work is building relationships with patients to connect with them while delivering individualized care that serves as a solution to their problems. Dr. Chuang takes pride in the level of education she provides to her patients so each one feels well-informed and empowered to make the best decision for their needs.
Dr. Chuang graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in both English and biology. She continued her education at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where she earned a master’s in health science immunology and a certificate in vaccine science in 2012. Upon graduation, she attended University of Pennsylvania’s School of Dental Medicine where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2019. To enhance her learning, she had an internship at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she earned a certificate in oral and maxillofacial surgery. In 2024, Dr. Chuang successfully completed her oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at Howard University Hospital.
Dr. Chuang is currently a candidate to be board-certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). She is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (AAOMS).
Outside of the office, Dr. Chuang enjoys reading, painting, and doing yoga.
